Loadouts
WARDOGS Recon Spotter Loadout
Start a recon spotter kit with binoculars, a working rifle and compatible ammunition. Observe the enemies your teammates can engage, hold each target in view until its mark completes, then scan the next approach. A sniper rifle is an optional change of task, not a prerequisite for spotting.

Choose a fight your information can help
This loadout is for supporting a friendly advance from an observation position. Unlike a general infantry run, your first job is to keep useful targets marked while staying alive; the rifle covers movement and immediate threats.
Open the map before leaving and locate an active friendly fight. Choose a covered approach with a view of the opposing movement lane. A distant hill with no useful view of that fight is less helpful than a modest angle that exposes the enemies your squad is facing.
Spotting can contribute Recon experience and assists when marked enemies are killed. The objective is useful information and completed team actions: simply buying binoculars does not fund the next loadout.
A binocular-first packing list
These quantities are a starting packing recommendation. Check the current vendor, your faction and inventory space before paying.
| Equipment | Starting choice | Why it belongs |
|---|---|---|
| Spotting tool | 1 binoculars | The core item: use its target-tracking view rather than relying on a rifle sight to mark enemies. |
| Personal defense | 1 available starter rifle | Carry a gun you can supply and use while changing position; buying a sniper unlock is not required for this role. |
| Ammunition | 1 loaded compatible magazine plus 1 filled spare | Check the gun and magazine match. Increase reserves if your route regularly turns into a sustained fight. |
| Medical reserve | 2 bandages and 1 Emergency Resuscitator | A compact recommendation for recovery and an accessible nearby revive; the emergency item is single-use. |
| Insertion equipment | A parachute when taking an airborne route | Choose transport and a usable landing point before treating this as optional. |
| Reserve cash | Enough for another complete chosen kit | Include binoculars, ammunition and supplies, not just the rifle price. |
Complete a mark before moving to the next enemy
- Reach cover with a clear view of the enemy approach. Check nearby threats before looking through the binoculars.
- Equip the binoculars and look through them. Place the target in the tracking area and keep it in view as the tracking indicator fills.
- Wait for the marking sequence to complete. A brief sweep across an enemy is not the same as finishing the mark.
- Use the resulting target information on the map and minimap to support the fight. Scan another exposed enemy rather than spending the whole observation period on one person.
- Lower the binoculars regularly to check your surroundings. Switch to the rifle before moving through an exposed or close-range approach.
- Move when enemies focus your position or the friendly fight shifts. Find a new useful angle and repeat the scan.
Know when to keep spotting or start shooting
Keep spotting when several opponents are visible and your teammates already have a way to engage them. Completing another useful mark may help more than revealing your position with a low-probability shot.
Switch to the rifle for an immediate threat or a shot you can take without abandoning the observation task. Do not stay inside the binocular view while an enemy approaches your cover.
A sniper setup changes the job toward engaging exposed targets at range. Learn the weapon, compatible ammunition and current unlock requirements before paying for that change. Do not buy an expensive scope merely to make the spotter kit look complete.
If the squad needs a capture push, a medic or FOB supplies instead, change roles or move with it. Remaining on an empty overlook after the battle moves gives the team little information.
Fix an unproductive spotting run
If the mark does not finish, keep the enemy in the binocular tracking area and check whether terrain or movement has interrupted your view. Reacquire the target instead of assuming that a momentary reticle pass registered it.
If you mark enemies but see little assist activity, observe the opponents currently fighting your allies. Marking a distant position that nobody can engage is a different contribution from helping an ongoing exchange.
If you die while observing, move closer to cover and shorten each scan. Lower the binoculars to inspect your flanks; do not solve every failed position by buying a more expensive rifle.
If repeated purchases drain your cash, remove optional weapon upgrades first and price the complete remaining kit. A smaller affordable setup lets you practice the observation loop without relying on income from the next life.
Budget the kit and change one thing at a time
Enter the current vendor prices and quantities in the loadout planner. Count the rifle, loaded ammunition, reserve magazine, binoculars and medical items, taking care not to count ammunition twice if it is included in a purchase.
Keep any unpaid permanent unlock separate from the items purchased for each run. Set the number of complete purchases you want available and compare the total with your cash before adding an optic or replacement weapon.
After a useful run, add equipment for a specific problem: more compatible ammunition for sustained contact, more bandages for nearby support, or protection for the route you repeatedly cross. Recheck the total after each change.
